Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of Windows operating system
Agenda:
    Students will be able to perform the following:
  • Create a LAW 5.0 case specific to electronic discovery.
  • Understand the Electronic Discovery Loader and its functionality.
  • Understand how to utilize LAW as a "mudroom" for initial culling down of electronic documents.
  • Understand the process of creating tags and tagging records using different methods.
  • Filter records and remove filters.
  • Perform database and full text searches, save and re-execute searches.
  • Understand the three different document states as they relate to electronic discovery.
  • Know how to convert tiff format and print native files to paper.
  • Understand how to quality check files that have been converted to tiff and what to look for.
  • Export all three document states.
Hardware and Software Requirements: Students must bring their own laptop. Minimum hardware requirements:
  • Processor speed (CPU): 1.7 GHz.
  • Memory (RAM): 512 MB.
  • OS: Windows 2000 Pro SP 4 or XP SP2 (do not use Vista).
In order to have the best overall training experience, we recommend the following software requirements:
  • LAW 5.0.31 with Informatik driver and Sentinel server (links to download and installation directions are provided).
  • Office Professional with current service packs installed.
  • An Outlook email account should be established.
  • Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 1 or 7.0.
  • Quick View Plus 8.
  • Adobe Standard or Professional 7.0 or higher.
  • SQL Express 2005 (Required to perform full-text searching. Instructions may be obtained through lawsupport@lexisnexis.com. Required for successful completion of projects.
Temporary licenses will be provided during the training.
