Known Issues -- (Categorized
by Mfgr/Driver series)
LAWtsi accesses all devices
via their TWAIN interface, which is made available by drivers produced
by the device's manfacturer. TWAIN is an open and free specification
that establishes communications between the device and PC. Due to the
specifications open nature some manufacturers implementations do not
fully comply with the published specification. LAWtsi was designed to
provide the most commonly used capabilities of the specification, and
to be as flexible as possible in regards to manufacturers variations in
their implementations. All of the issues listed in this section are
currently non-resolvable without cooperation from the manufacturer.
Resolution of these issues are being actively pursued and we are in
communication with the manufacturers in order to rectify these issues
as soon as possible.
Canon Network ScanGear V
1.3 - 2.0
1.) Brightness and
contrast settings on the main interface have no effect on scanning. The
NSG driver incorrectly reports the capabilites as being available but
any change made to either setting is tossed out during the image
acquistion session.
2.) Manual Paper Sizes
and ISO series paper size settings are ignored, in the case of ISO
paper sizes, the only current known workaround is for the machine to be
put in metric by a canon technician.
Ricoh branded devices using
the Type 3 Twain Driver
1.) Scanning
throughput is much lower than the devices rated speed. This reduction
in speed is common among all applications accessing the drivers TWAIN
interface.
