LAWtsi ReadMe Version 1.1.2

This document is intended to provide the user with a comprehensive list of changes to the application by version, and provide the user with any known issues regarding certain device models and or manufactures at the time of the current release.

-- Known Issues -- (Categorized by Mfgr/Driver series)
LAWtsi accesses all devices via their TWAIN interface, which is made available by drivers produced by the device's manfacturer. TWAIN is an open and free specification that establishes communications between the device and PC. Due to the specifications open nature some manufacturers implementations do not fully comply with the published specification. LAWtsi was designed to provide the most commonly used capabilities of the specification, and to be as flexible as possible in regards to manufacturers variations in their implementations. All of the issues listed in this section are currently non-resolvable without cooperation from the manufacturer. Resolution of these issues are being actively pursued and we are in communication with the manufacturers in order to rectify these issues as soon as possible.

Canon Network ScanGear V 1.3 - 2.0
1.) Brightness and contrast settings on the main interface have no effect on scanning. The NSG driver incorrectly reports the capabilites as being available but any change made to either setting is tossed out during the image acquistion session.
2.) Manual Paper Sizes and ISO series paper size settings are ignored, in the case of ISO paper sizes, the only current known workaround is for the machine to be put in metric by a canon technician.

Ricoh branded devices using the Type 3 Twain Driver
1.) Scanning throughput is much lower than the devices rated speed. This reduction in speed is common among all applications accessing the drivers TWAIN interface.

-- Changes By Version --
*Changes are seperated into 3 categories, Bug Fixes, Modifications and New Features.

Version 1.1.2 (Release Date 10/1/07)

(Bug Fixes)
1.) [Demo Mode] Fix for runtime license checking disabling the application while in demo mode.

(Modifications)
1.) [Branding]
New company branding applied (LexisNexis)
2.) [Installation] LAWtsi full installer and updates are now a component of the LAW Prediscovery installation pacakages.

Version 1.1.1 (Release Date 01/23/07)

(Bug Fixes)
1.) [Database/Scan Append] Fix for index violation occuring on an append operation in access databases when page ids are not unique causing an abort of the append operation. The desired behavior is to have the new page-ids postfixed with "Dup-<Occurence>".
2.) [Case Mgmt.] Fix for 'Key is not unique in collection' error sometimes occuring when auto-creating a folder.
3.) [Interface] Fix for Scan->Scan Options -> Enable Filter Preview not de-activating when selected from the menu.
4.) [Metadata] Fix for meta-data fields not being carried over to new documents when a folder break barcode sheet is detected.

(Modifications)
1.) [LAW50]
Compatiblitly with LAW50 cases and licensing scheme added. (See notes).

Notes on LAW50 compatibility:
- TSI will remain backward compatible with LAW40 licensing scheme as well as new 50 server based schemed (requires browsing to a shared profman.exe for obtaining licenses).  See the 'Licensing' section of the help file for details.
- Only user defined fields will be visible in the meta-data panel. New ED Fields in LAW50 are blocked from the TSI's metadata view.  Any field created by the user will be visible.
- Electronic discovery records will appear with a greenish icon in the doc-listings. These types of records have limited support in tsi even if they were tiffed in law. Both serialized and multi-paged tiffed images are fully viewable in tsi , but functions that would alter the documents structure have been disabled.
- Support (read/write) for new LAW50 field types including, Flags and Numeric.

(New Features)
1.)  [Scanning] Added 'Suspend Scanner' function on 'Commands' tab in the main interface.  This function will suspend the connection to the twain device so that other applications may access that device. When the device is suspended, TSI cannot scan until the device is "Un-suspended".
2.) [Scanner Support] Added scanner profile for Konica/Minolta 920/1050 series twain drivers.
3.) [Barcoode Detection] Added 'Enhance barcode test image.' To the barcode settings section of the options dialog. This option is set to active by default. The purpose of this option is to improve barcode detection on lower quality images (color sheets, etc..). This option should always be left on unless you are exclusively using black and white barcode sheets, in which case it can be de-activated for a slight improvement in barcode scanning performance.
